About

Twenty-five years in the field, not in a theory

Work Excellence was built by operators who spent their careers inside manufacturing, distribution, finance, and supply chain, and got tired of watching good organizations run themselves ragged for want of a shared way to see the work.

Short answer

Who is Work Excellence?

Work Excellence, LLC is an operational alignment and technology company headquartered in Fairhope, Alabama. Founded by Brian Cain and Steve Gran, the firm has spent 14 years as Work Excellence and more than 25 years applying the underlying method inside mid-market organizations. It delivers the Work Excellence Method through workshops, coaching, and a supporting platform.

Our story

Brian is an accountant by training. Steve came up through supply chain and process discipline. Between them they have spent three decades in the field with owners, operators, and CEOs — usually arriving when something was already going badly.

What they kept finding was not incompetence. It was invisibility. Capable departments, run by capable people, unable to see each other’s work, and so re-solving the same problems on a loop while leadership spent its weeks reconciling versions of the truth.

The Method came out of that pattern, refined over hundreds of engagements. It is deliberately application-based rather than theoretical: we work on your actual problem and transfer the capability rather than the dependency. Clients tell us the difference plainly. We are not the firm that leaves a report behind.

Today the team is small by design: co-founders who still deliver the work, analysts, coaches, and a technology platform built to hold what the sessions produce.

Our story

Why we created the Method

Brian and Steve had both seen talented teams struggle because they had no common way of working. They believed there had to be a better way.

What started as conversations about alignment became a visual, practical framework. The goal has always been simple: help people find a better way to work.

What we believe

Practice first. Platform second.

Software does not create alignment; a method does. We start with how your team works, not with a login.

Capability, not dependency

Success is your leaders running the routine without us, and we have clients doing exactly that years later.

Meet you where you are

Current state is neutral, not a failure. We start with the work in front of you, not an ideal-state model.

Willingness is the prerequisite

The method works with leaders who want to improve and acknowledge reality. We are honest when that is not present.

The team

Small, senior, and still in the room. The people who designed the method are the people who deliver it.
